Dear Ruby

Dear Ruby Anne,
I used your middle name because I'm supposed to - when you're being a troublemaker!  Babies are supposed to sleep, you're a baby, please sleep!  I really shouldn't complain, you slept 7 1/2 hours last night, but it took us all weekend to get you there!  We had friends over for your first bonfire Saturday night, and you cried, a lot.  You only slept when I had you wrapped up on me and snuggled in close.  Silly Mommy thought I could transfer you to bed.  I think it was officially 1:00 am when you finally dozed off into early morning slumber.  Sunday morning you napped for about 20 minutes.  20 minutes.  We drove to Grandma Wickman's house to celebrate a few April birthdays, which is where you got about 15 of your 20 minute nap!  I will say you did very well at Grandma's house, a very nice birthday gift to your Grandmother.  But only napped for about 10 minutes, two separate times.  Then there was the drive home.  I still have this little ringing in my ear!  You screamed, so loud, the entire drive home.  I am glad to report that you fell into a beautiful evening slumber at around 10:00 pm and slept until 5:30 am!  Good girl Ruby!  (notice I didn't use your middle name this time!?)

Miss Audrey is here again...

Little Ruby is fitting into some of her 3-6 month clothes already!  Basically, I think it's her length, she just may be a tall girl.  This outfit was her cousin Audrey's first, it fits Ruby now, perfect in the length (with some room to grow) and a little baggy around the waste.  In these pictures Ruby is almost 2 1/2 months, Audrey is 3 months old.  Aren't they the cutest!?  My Mom and I agree that we still see a little bit of Audrey in Ruby.

I think it's the nose, chin and cheeks!

No X-rated Pictures here...

Ruby loves her bath.  Probably 80% of the time we can go from full scream to happy baby with a warm bath.  Hopefully she'll take to swimming just as well!  The only thing - a bath at night does not soothe her to become sleepy, she only becomes more alert!

Latest Visits

Ruby has her good days and her bad days...  Wednesday night her Wickman Grandparents came to visit and she was a stinker.  She cried if she wasn't in Mom's arms!  We were lucky enough for her to sleep through dinner though, so at least we were able to gaze upon a sweet sleeping baby!

Thursday we spent the afternoon with my best friend Heather and her Mom Arlene.  This turned out to be a fabulous day for Ruby.  She slept, ate, cooed and was just a happy girl!  Maybe she was just trying to show off for Heather's youngest son Jake, he's almost a year old!

Thursday evening we celebrated the birthdays of Uncle Tommy and Auntie Arwen at Ted Montana's in Bolingbrook.  She slept.  We ate.  What fabulous food it was!  It was a great evening!

2 month appointment

Ruby is two months old today!  And to think, her mean Mom took her to the doctor for shots for her two month birthday!  The doctor says she's doing great, growing well, no problems at all!  She weighed in at 10 lb, 7 oz.(40%) and is now 22 inches long (37%).

This past Sunday we had a wonderful day celebrating her first Easter.  We had brunch at Grandpa and Grandma Lyp's house, then dinner at Auntie JoEllen and Uncle Ray's home.  Our dinner visit we got to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Wickman who arrived the day before from Arizona, and also celebrated cousin Kaity's 16th birthday!

The plan for this week:  visit with Heather and her mom, celebrate Uncle Tommy and Auntie Arwen's birthday, maybe some shopping - who am I kidding, we'll definitely shop.  Some day I have to go back to work to fund our shopping trips!  Oh, and a dentist visit - for Mom of course!

Question of the day

What is a baby to do with 7 hours of sleep?  Sleep some more!  But then this leads me to ask, what is a Mom to do with 7 hours of sleep and a sleeping baby!?  (post on my blog, I guess!)  This is the second time Ruby slept 7 hours straight, she woke up for a diaper change and a feeding, then right back to sleep.  Good girl Ruby!
