Ruby's 2 week appointment

Ruby is doing great and obviously eating well, at her 2 week appointment she was 4 ounces heavier than her birth weight!  This is great news since the typical goal is to be back at birth weight by her 2 week mark!  Her height is now 20.25" (42%), weight 7# 13oz. (29%), head circumference 14" (36%).  Next scheduled doctor visit is at 2 months.

Visits with Ruby

Ruby has had a lot of visitors!  Meet some of Ruby's family...

In the hospital...
Grandma and Grandpa Lyp

Aunt JoEllen and Uncle Ray

Bob

Katie, Heather, Rick and Tracey visited in the hospital also but I don't have pictures of them.

At home...
Cousin Kaity

Great Aunt Arlene

Aunt Michele

Then Grandma and Grandpa came in to visit from Arizona

Uncle Tommy was stuck in home after a back surgery and we went to visit him.

Aunt Arwen was sick so she stayed under her bandit mask!
We went to visit Grandpa Lyp in the hospital after his heart surgery, of course little Ruby stayed in a waiting area with her Daddy, but Uncle Tony was in from Colorado and got to visit and cuddle with her.

Aunt Arwen got to visit and snuggle after her flu was gone!

A little snuggle time with cousin Tommy!

Dad's surgery

As for Dad's bypass and valve surgery goes...  I'll try and update this as I gain more information, but for now Dad's latest update is he's off the bypass machine and they are finishing up.  That was as of 1:30.

3pm:  He's now out of surgery and headed to ICU for some one to one care and rest.  Good news is that they were able to repair the bad valve instead of having to replace it.

9pm:  He's looking good, Kevin and I went to visit for a short time.  He's still sedated and intubated but they are starting to wean him off the ventilator and he'll probably be extubated this evening.

11am Friday:  Dad is doing great!  He's extubated now, they get him up for each meal and walk him now about four times a day.  Now on the road to recovery and healing!

The Wickman Finger

For those of you unaware of what the "Wickman Finger" is...  look at the pinky.  It's the way it curves inwards.  Generally the males have it, but one other female we know of has it, her Great Auntie Lola.

1st Midwife visit for the week

There goes that induction word again!  My blood pressure is just crazy and not cooperating!  At the office today it was 145/95 sitting and 30 minutes later after reclining it was 122/60.  I'll be revisiting the midwives on Thursday and revisiting labor and delivery on Friday, if I'm still having the pressure issues and if the protein in my urine increases they'll highly recommend inducing - most likely this Saturday!  Yikes!

Risks associated with PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) for baby:  not getting enough nutrients and blood supply, so basically not enough oxygen and food.  Risks for me, developing pre-eclampsia and decreased blood flow to some important organs, and then some.

We had a little talk with the belly last night encouraging baby to come out on its own asap, so unless it actualy listens to us you can expect the next update, Thursday...
