Zoo Day

We've had a busy week already, and it's only Tuesday!  This little girl is a great traveler.  Yesterday was a visit with a friend from work, today we went to a local free zoo, Phillips Park Zoo.  I think the rest of the week is spoken for too!  Anyway, today was the zoo visit with Auntie Arwen and Cousin Tommy.  It was such a blast, great weather, and just a great visit altogether!

We saw Llamas and goats...  (I know it's difficult to see the animals, but they really are there!)

We found a peeping Turkey...

A pretty swan...

"We don't want to wear sunglasses!"

"Oh, ok, maybe just for one second"

 A smiling Tommy...

and a sleeping Ruby...

Lisa's Visit

Ruby got to meet a friend of mine from work on Monday!  Her name is Lisa and it was great to see her.  Ruby sure found it easy to cozy up and cuddle with her new friend.

The dogs were completely thrilled to have had a new visitor, especially one that paid TONS of attention to them!  They were certainly sad to see her leave.

The sad news is...  Lisa and her husband will be moving to Austin, Texas soon.  But until then, (Lisa I'm sure you'll be reading this, ha ha) we can't wait to see her some more, maybe next time we'll visit her in Oak Park!

Ruby Meets Sue

Ruby and I tagged along to the Field Museum with Colin and family to celebrate his birthday.  He is quite the dinosaur expert at the age of five.  Ruby's first museum visit was a rather peaceful one, only one outbreak in the 3-D dinosaur movie!  She chose to sleep instead of meeting the enormous Sue, maybe she'll see her another day!  She also opted out of the diamonds exhibit and stayed with Grandpa.  That was probably for the best, she's a little to young for a "best friend" anyway!

Lyp Cousins

In order from left to right:  Colin, Tommy, Audrey and Ruby.  Little Tommy is too cute, always smiling, even a day or two after getting his first tooth!  Colin wouldn't really look at the camera because our neighbor Brian was there and since they are great buddies, he couldn't take his eyes off of him!  Audrey loves being the big cousin and loves holding Ruby, what a wonderful big cuz.  Ruby is getting so big, she's seven weeks old already!

Ruby's latest guests

All the Lyp family together again!  Tony, Elizabeth, Audrey and Colin drove in from Colorado to meet little Ruby.  It's so nice to be together again!  It was too bad that the littlest ones here had a bad night, Ruby being fussy and poor baby Tommy popping his first tooth.  But that didn't matter, like I said, it was great to be together again!  We get to celebrate Colin's birthday on Thursday.  Yay Colin, he'll be five years old!

Breaking News

I wish there was a picture that could represent the joy that Mom and baby felt after getting 7 HOURS OF SLEEP, in a row!  Woohoo!  It only has happened one night, but I'll take it!

Baby Wearing

This girl is so spoiled!  We bought a Moby Wrap and we're loving every minute of it.  It's this massive stretch of fabric that you wrap around you and baby.  At these young stages it's great because we can keep her close and happy and warm.  When she's bigger she can be carried in many other ways, on the hip, face forward, even on our backs - held in place with the wrap.  It's awesome.  Here's Kevin with Ruby, Auntie Arwen has cousin Tommy.  Grandma Ro and Uncle Tommy are in the picture as well.

Cousin Audrey

Sometimes I think little Ruby resembles her cousin Audrey, maybe not in this picture but at times she does!  I love finding pictures of Audrey wearing clothes that Ruby is borrowing!  Such pretty girls!  Audrey is on the left, Ruby's on the right.

Smiley Girl

How could you say no to a face like this!?

Have we been robbed?

Is this a robber who fell asleep on the job, or just a little hard rocker baby that got pooped out after too much head banging?  Maybe it was just the Metallica lullaby's that put her to sleep!
